Spot turmeric prices decreased in Erode’s markets on Thursday due to weaker futures. The farmers brought 6,300 bags and 80 per cent of the arrivals were sold, said Krishnamurthy, a trader. The prices of all varieties were down by ₹150 a quintal.
Some bags of hybrid finger variety were up ₹100 due to quality. At the Regulated Marketing Committee, finger variety was sold at ₹7,599-8,657; root variety at ₹7,369-8,279. Of the 1,582 bags offered, 1,263 were sold.
