K Keshavulu, Director of the Telangana State Seed and Organic Certification Authority (TISSOCA), has been appointed as Vice-President of the International Seed Testing Association.
He is tipped to take over as the President of the association’s Governing Board in 2022 in New Zealand, which will host the next conference. The appointment has been made during the ongoing ISTA Congress 2019 here. Keshavulu is the first person from India to hold this position at the seed testing association. The Federation of Seed Industry of India (FSII) has welcomed the appointment.
“In his new responsibility, he has the opportunity to contribute towards global seed quality standards. ISTA’s accreditation assures high quality, genetic and trait purity of seeds that leads to higher productivity and enables trade,” it said.
