Mumbai, Apr 6 Apparel exports have increased by 21.58 per cent to Rs 5,284 crore in February compared to the the corresponding month last year on the strength of growth in demand in the wake of global economic recovery, an industry body today said.

The exports stood at Rs 4,346 crore in February 2010, the apex body of apparel exporters, Apparel Export Promotion Council (AEPC), said in a statement here.

The increase in exports was mainly due to the global financial recovery and the strengthening of rupee against US dollar, it added.

However, there was a 2.25 per cent decline at Rs 45,081 crore in April-February 2010-11 period compared to Rs 46,120 crore in the same period previous fiscal.
