People suffering from old age knee pain can now heave a sigh of relief.
A new technology called High Tibial Osteotomy, which will help patients forced to undergo knee replacement, has been developed by the principal of a local government medical college.
Patients undergoing the treatment will be discharged from the hospital within 3-4 days and will be able to walk freely. Also, patients need to spend only Rs 10,000 instead of several lakh rupees earlier incurred, claims Prof Anand Swarup.
Swarup, principal and head of the orthopaedic department in Ganesh Shanker Vidhyarthi College, has been hailed by an American journal for treating 150 patients with this technology.
