British Midlands International more popularly know as bmi is to launch a three-times a week flight on the Amritsar-Almaty-Heathrow sector from October 14. The flight will leave Amritsar every Tuesday, Friday and Sunday and after a one hour technical stop in Almaty the same aircraft will continue its onward journey to London. In the return direction to the aircraft will make a 50-minute stop in Almaty. The airline will operate an Airbus A-330 that can seat 232 passengers including 36 passengers in business class.
In a statement, the airline is calling it the only direct service between Amritsar and London. Mr Vikas Mathur, bmi's Sales Manager, India, adds that the airline offered the shortest route to travel to London from Amritsar.
