The public sector Cochin Shipyard Ltd delivered a Platform Supply Vessel ‘Troms Capella' to Clean Design 81 AS, Norway.

This is the first time in India that such a high technology offshore vessel has been constructed and delivered conforming to the exacting quality standards of the Norwegian owners.

The Protocol documents of the ship were signed by Mr Jose Mathew, Executive Director (Design), on behalf of Cochin Shipyard and Mr Geir Lie, Chairman of Troms Offshore Supply AS, on behalf of the buyers.

The vessel is of PSV 09 CD type designed by STX OSV Norway and is classed under the Rules and Regulations of Det Norske Veritas and is flagged under the Norwegian regulations. The 86 x 19 metre vessel is a high-end Diesel Electric PSV with by 4 Nos 1665 KW Diesel gen. sets and 2 Nos 2200 KW contra rotating propellers.

The vessel with Grade II Dynamic Positioning features has been assigned the ‘CLEAN' design notation by DNV signifying the highest levels of environmental compliance. The vessel, which can accommodate 44 persons, has also met the requirements of COMF class signifying high comfort levels due to special arrangements to attain very low levels of noise and vibration.

The vessel has special stainless steel tanks with Nitrogen inerting arrangements to carry low flash liquids and is capable of all other normal offshore supply operations.

The documents were signed in the presence of Mr Svein Hoel, Managing Director of Troms Offshore Management AS, Norway, Mr V. Radhakrishnan, Director (Technical), and Mr Ravi Kumar Roddam, Director (Finance), Cochin Shipyard Ltd.

The vessel is expected to sail for Norway late next week.
