The Eastern Railway authorities will carry out surprise raids and checks on different trains that are not escorted by GRP or RPF personnel.
The decision is expected to strengthen security arrangements and also curb untoward incidents like thefts. Stern action will be taken against deliberate disruptions in train running that include unnecessary chain pulling and obstructions.
A meeting in this regard was held between GRP, RPF and senior railway officers at the Eastern Railway headquarters in the city here on Thursday.
