A ship named after Visakhapatnam, m.v Far Vizag, called at the Visakhapatnam Container Terminal Ltd on Sunday evening and set sail for Colombo on Monday morning, according to a press release issued by the VCTPL.
According to the release, it was the maiden call of the ship and it will ply between Vizag and Colombo on a regular service. Capt. Sriram Ravichander, the Chief Operating Officer of the Visakhapatnam Container Terminal Pvt Ltd, welcomed the captain and crew of the ship.
He said it was also a matter of pride that a merchant vessel had been named after Vizag.
