UK-based Swire Oilfield Services, a leading supplier of offshore cargo carrying units (CCU) and modular systems, has announced the establishment of an Indian incorporated entity headquartered in Mumbai, the first of its kind in the country.

Swire Oilfield Services India Private Ltd commenced operations on January 20 and is the only provider in the area to supply CCUs rated by third party certification agency Det Norske Veritas (DNV) for charter-hire or sale to the oil and gas industry, a statement issued by the company here said.

Globally, Swire Oilfield Services has over 150 standard unit designs, a fleet of over 50,000 CCUs and supports the world’s largest fleet of DNV 2.7-1 and EN 12079-rated equipment.

Swire Oilfield Services India Private Ltd Director and General Manager, Mr Nithin Menon, said initially the focus of operations is on the east coast, where the company has established a supply base in Andhra Pradesh.

The base is located in the port city of Kakinada, home to several oil and gas companies. Service providers are actively exploring and producing hydrocarbons in the Krishna-Godavari Basin.
