The Cochin Shipyard Ltd has signed contracts for two 120 tonne bollard pull anchor handling tug supply vessels (AHTS) with Shipping Corporation of India Ltd (SCI). Mr V. Radhakrishnan, Director (Technical) CSL and Mr A. K. Gupta, Director (Technical & Offshore Services), SCI signed the contracts in New Delhi.

The vessels are of AH03 design, designed by STX Europe and are classified under the Rules and Regulations of American Bureau of Shipping under Dual Class with the Indian Register of Shipping.  The 66 x 16 m vessel powered by 2 x 4000 kW engines, is equipped with a 300 tonnes anchor handling winch, dynamic positioning grade 1, fire fighting grade 1, and is capable of all normal offshore supply functions.

The vessel, which accommodates 29 persons, also meets the requirements of ERRV Group C (Emergency Rescue & Response Vessel), which will enable standby and rescue functions in case of an oil field exigency. The vessel will fly the Indian Flag on delivery and will be registered at Mumbai.

The vessels will undergo bollard pull testing at the 500 tonne bollard pull test facility established at Vizhinjam by CSL in cooperation with Kerala Ports Department.
