The Andhra Pradesh Governor, Mr E.S.L. Narasimhan, has suggested that those affected by the metro rail project should be extended a good relief and rehabilitation (R&R) package.
He was briefed by Mr N.V.S. Reddy, Managing Director of Hyderabad Metro Rail Ltd, about the 71-km elevated Metro Rail project coming up with an outlay of Rs 14,132 crore. Mr Reddy informed that the works of pillars erection and viaduct construction on the road medians will commence in January 2012.
Citing the example of Moscow Metro, the Governor advised HMR Managing Director to develop metro rail stations making them attractive tourist destinations while providing good connectivity to historical places such as Salar Jung Museum and Charminar without disturbing their ambience and heritage value. He felt that the metro rail project should enhance the tourism potential of the city.
