The joint working group between Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd and Container Corporation of India, Halcon, and terminal operator Clarion Solutions said it has begun air cargo operations at Ojhar Airport, Nashik, Maharashtra.
The facilities comprise air cargo complex, warehousing integrated packing centre for perishables, cold storage, screening, palletisation, barcoding and labelling.
The operations are expected to boost exim trade in the State as exporters of vegetables, flowers, fruits, automobiles, pharmaceuticals, engineering products and consumer goods there can utilise the facilities without having to go to the Mumbai airport.
Mr P.V. Deshmukh, Managing Director (MIG), Hindustan Aeronautics, said about Rs 70 crore had been invested to upgrade the existing facilities at the airport.
It will be a single window clearance facility for importers and exporters across various segments of the industry, said Mr Ganesh Krishnan, CEO, Clarion Solutions.
