In a digital push, the Railway Board has decided that there will be “no manual” booking of full trains and coaches, said an official source.
The Board has decided that private booking of entire passenger rakes and coaches can only be done digitally using a link in IRCTC’s Web site.
“There will be no manual booking of full tariff rate (FTR) trains,” said a official source, without citing details of the date from which this will be effective. These bookings are usually done for marriage parties, corporate meetings and college tours.
As per policy decisions taken earlier this year, IRCTC can also levy a five per cent of total fare as facilitation charge for booking of special trains, coaches, saloons on Full Tariff Rates (FTR).
Almost 70 per cent of train reserved passenger bookings are done online. Also, almost over 80 per cent of cargo bookings are done online.
