President Pranab Mukherjee will inaugurate Federation of Karnataka Chambers of Commerce and Industry’s (FKCCI) centenary celebrations here on Saturday.

FKCCI was launched in 1915 by M Visvesvaraya to industrialise the erstwhile Mysore State with the support its ruler Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wadiyar IV.

“In the last hundred years, the Chamber has strived for the growth of trade and industry in the State. FKCCI has established good rapport with successive governments and other statutory bodies,” S Sampathraman, President of FKCCI, told reporters.

To support the State government's efforts, FKCCI has taken steps to attract investments from the neighbouring States.

Sampathraman said the investors’ meet organised by FKCCI at Coimbatore and Gowribidanur had started yielding results.

“As we re-invigorate our federation to higher level strategic initiatives I urge FKCCI to work closely with governments to assist it in catalyzing next-generation reforms for Karnataka's economic resurgence,” he said.

Power sector reforms have achieved only a moderate success and alternate sources of energy have ample scope in the State, he said.
