IT solutions and services provider Ness Technologies plans to hire 1,000 people this year for its operations in Bangalore and Mumbai.

The US-headquartered company of Israeli origin is looking at senior people with experience of 4-7 years in software product engineering and skills in Java, .Net. It is also looking for program architects and project managers.

The recruits will be absorbed in the company's offices in special economic zones in Bangalore and Mumbai. Mr Satyajit Bandopadhyay, President and Managing Director, Ness Technologies (India), said: “We are expanding our existing office in Vrindavan Tech Park in Bangalore from 300 seats to another 300, taking the total capacity to 600 seats. We have taken up a 300-seater space in the Airoli SEZ in Mumbai — we will move in here by July.”

“Every year, our hiring grows by 15-20 per cent in India, although 2009 was a flat year. We are doing one of our largest hiring in 2011. Last year, our hiring saw a comeback from the second half. This year, we are seeing hiring in the first half itself,” said Mr Bandopadhyay.

The Indian arm of Ness Technologies does offshoring work for clients in US and Europe; it specialises in software product development, with vertical expertise in health-care and life-sciences. The company currently employs 3,000 people in India (global headcount is 7,700), across its offices in Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Pune.

“One-third of the company's global revenues comes from the US, which has increased from 1/4th in the last few years. The three-year plan is to have 42-45 per cent of revenues from this region. With increased business from the US, we have stepped up hiring in India. The hiring process has already started through employee referrals, job portals and head-hunting from similar product companies,” said Mr Bandopadhyay.

Ness Technologies clocked revenues of $571 million in 2010.
