RDP, a Hyderabad-based firm has launched a thin, 14.1-inch laptop for ₹9,999. The ThinBook comes with an internal memory of 32 GB and a RAM of 2GB. Designed in the city, the laptop is manufactured in Taiwan. It has a Windows 10 Operating System and Intel Atom x5-Z8300 Processor but no CD drive.

“We are planning to manufacture them in India in the next three-four quarters. We will initially invest ₹13 crore on the plant, which will be scaled up later,” said Vikram Redlapalli, Founder and MD of RDP, at a press conference.

He said the four-year-old company was selling thin clients for corporates. “We are targeting sale of 30,000 laptops this financial year. We will launch two tablets in the next two weeks,” he said.

Telangana IT and Industry Minister KT Rama Rao launched the laptop.

“We have been making strategic investments towards expanding our OEM partner ecosystem to augment availability of affordable devices across price points and form factors, and our association with RDP for their new affordable ThinBook is a part of our ongoing strategy to further the Windows devices ecosystem in the country,” said Priyadarshi Mohapatra, Country GM (Consumer Channel Group) Microsoft India.
