Fanatics, a global player in licensed sports merchandise, has opened a new technology innovation centre here. Announcing this at a press conference, its Chief Technology and Product Officer Matt Madrigal said the company would focus on building technology and product capabilities in the new centre.

 “This new centre will be critical to our growth,’’ he said, adding that it had already hired 18 professionals. The headcount will go up to 35 by the end of the year. The investment in India was part of the expansion being funded by a $1 billion investment Fanatics received in 2017 from SoftBank’s Vision Fund, he said.
