Legal tech platform LawRato.com, a start-up that helps people search for lawyers and seek legal advice, has launched a chatbot on Facebook’s messenger platform.
With this, LawRato, becomes the first among the online legal service providers to have come out with a chatbot that will automatically respond to the queries of it consumers on Facebook.
The company has named the chatbot as “LawBot”, which lets users search for answers to legal-related queries for free. The chatbot will recommend the users to book a consultation with a lawyer on LawRato’s platform too. However, this will be a charged service for a nominal fee.
For example, if a user types ‘How can a husband get child custody after mutual divorce’, LawRato.com’s LawBot through its real time search algorithms throws similar answers by lawyers and recommends the top 3 divorce lawyers in the user’s city at the LawRato.com platform in just few minutes.
“We realised that several users were uncomfortable in revealing their details while seeking answers to their legal queries. Chatbots help in maintaining privacy. Also many just want to evaluate their options, and know the repercussions of their actions, before they actually go ahead and consult a lawyer. As more users interact, LawBot gets smarter at finding the best answers and lawyers too,” said LawRato’s co-founder and CTO Nikhil Sarup.
Founded in January last year by Sarup and another co-founder Rohan Mahajan, LawRato.com has over 1,500 top verified lawyers from multiple practice areas across 200 cities in India. It claims to have answered over 20,000 legal questions on its platform and has helped over 2,000 users consult and hire the right lawyer for their legal requirement so far.
