Taking a cue from an initiative started by its India arm, the US-based Progress Software has announced global challenge to its employees, asking them to come out with their ideas that can be developed into products and solutions.
Encouraged by its Pacific Incubator programme started in Hyderabad last year, the US firm has kick-started Innovation Initiative for its engineers working at its laboratories in Sofia, Bulgaria, the US and in India. The firm will give one day in a month to build on their own ideas.
“These ideas may result in the development of new products or additional features to an existing product. The initiative is aimed at appreciating ideation at the grassroots. The ideas will be funnelled into a few. They will be developed into products,” Jerry Rulli, Chief Operating Officer of Progress Software, has said.
In Hyderabad last week to announce the programme, he said the selected ideas would be built into products. “Those who generated the ideas need not be part of the development team,” he said.
Digital factory The firm, which help its clients develop applications and help in digital transformation, also launched Digital Factory that lets businesses modernise their operations and increase user engagement. “Businesses are being forced to develop customer interactions between different technological interfaces to cater to the tech savvy millennial users,” he said.
Though the firm saw potential the US and Europe for the product, it said India too would evolve as big market.
