Steelwedge Software, a cloud-based sales and operations planner, will quadruple its headcount in India in the next few years.
At present, the US-headquartered company has 273 employees, with 180 of them in the Indian centre in Hyderabad.
The Indian operations will be centred around engineering, quality assurance, product research and development and managed services, said Mr Glen Margolis, Founder and Chief Executive Officer.
“We plan to increase the staff strength to 1,150 by 2016," he said.
Steelwedge is a leader in the supply chain planning market that is at $2.5 billion at present. It has a 15 per cent market share. The sector is expected to grow to $3.9 billion by 2015 and the company will be a major player, he added.
The company provides solutions that connects sales, operations and finance data. It is the first vendor to provide a cloud-based solution in the market. This an alternative from the on-premise solutions offered by competitors like Oracle and SAP, Mr Margolis said.
Steelwedge works with diverse industries that include chemicals, consumer electronics, automotive etc. The company wants to invest in growth to meet demands from China, Japan, India, US and Europe. Recently, it signed up with Lenovo, the PC manufacturer to power its global integrated business planning process, he added.
