The specialist innovation centre set up by the Union Department of Scientific and Industrial Research at Technopark here is hosting a workshop titled ‘Technopreneur 14’ here tomorrow.

The TePP (Technopreneur Promotion Programme) Outreach Cum Cluster Innovation Centre here is a member of a peer group promoted by the department to promote innovation.

Funding mechanism

The workshop will introduce aspirant innovators to the funding mechanism, promoting innovations in individuals, start-ups and MSMEs (Prism) of the department, an official spokesperson said.

It will feature on this funding mechanism; patenting of innovations; and research and development in small enterprises. Successful entrepreneurs will share their experience with the youngsters.

The workshop will be held at the Travancore Hall, Park Centre, Technopark campus.

Converting ideas

It is being organised in association with Kerala IT, the Technopark-Technology Business Incubator, and the Kerala State Industrial Development Corporation (KSIDC).

It will be a platform for technology entrepreneurs in the State to know more about business opportunities at hand, the spokesperson added.

It will focus on creating awareness on converting ideas into reality to become successful "technopreneurs''. It mainly targets prospective innovators, student innovators, startup companies and MSME clusters.

Kerala inititative

PK Kunhalikkutty, Kerala Minister for Industries and IT, will inaugurate the event in the presence of Aruna Sundararajan, Additional Chief Secretary and Managing Director, KSIDC; and PH Kurian, Principal Secretary, IT and Industries.

The Minister will also launch the official Web site of the Young Entrepreneurs Summit, an initiative by the State Government to promote young entrepreneurs.

Piloted by the KSIDC, the initiative enlists participation of the Technopark; the Infopark; Kerala Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation; the Technopark Incubator; the Startup Village, Kochi; TiE; and the Confederation of India Industry.
