E-commerce firm Yebhi.com, which changed its business model from being an e-tailer to a product discovery site, is looking at offering price comparison of fashion products not only among Indian portals but also from across the world.

The Gurgaon-based company has tied up with four leading fashion e-tailers — Asos.com, Macys.com, Forever21.com and Shopbop.com — to allow consumers to shop from these portals. The products, which are mainly apparels and footwear, will be shipped free to Indian consumers within 3-4 days

Danish Ahmed, CEO, Yebhi.com, said the company is looking at bringing another 10-15 such players, including JC Penny, Sears, Zara and Bloomindales in the next few months.

“A few thousand Indian consumers buy from international portals every day. However, many are not aware of these options. Over the next few years we will see a lot of cross border e-tail, as users hop across continents on a click. We want to bring all the global online fashion portals under one platform, where in consumers can discover the best in fashion,” Ahmed said.

Fashion as a segment has been the focus of all major e-commerce companies in India. Online marketplaces such as Flipkart, Amazon and Snapdeal are investing heavily in strengthening this segment as it fetches more margins.

While Flipkart acquired fashion portal Myntra for over ₹2,000 crore, the biggest acquisition in this space so far, it is being speculated that Amazon.in is looking at acquiring another leading portal Jabong.com. Sales in this segment have doubled at $560 million this year at a 20 per cent growth rate.

According to Technopak Advisory, the segment is projected to reach $2.9 billion by 2016 at a time when the entire e-tailing industry is pegged at $3.5 billion at present. This is expected to touch $50 billion by 2020.

Rising traffic

Yebhi.com that re-launched its portal three months ago is already witnessing a double spike in traffic. The company expects about 10-15 per cent of the sales to come from the international segment.
