Copper futures prices moved down marginally by 0.10 per cent to Rs 431.70 a kg as speculators reduced their positions even as the metal strengthened at the London Metal Exchange.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, copper for delivery in April eased by 55 paise or 0.10 per cent to Rs 431.10 a kg, with a business volume of 4,722 lots.
It had ended 1.44 per cent lower at Rs 432.15 a kg in yesterday’s trade. Similarly, the metal for delivery in May shed 45 paise or 0.10 per cent to Rs 438.10 a kg, with a trade volume of 416 lots.
Market analysts said off-loading of positions by speculators in view of weak trend at the spot markets mainly put pressure on prices. However, a firm trend at the London Metal Exchange on demand outlook restricted the losses, they added.
Meanwhile at the LME, copper for three-month delivery gained 0.2 per cent to $9,639.50 a tonne.
