Crude palm oil prices fell by Rs 6.80 to Rs 525 per 10 kg at the futures trade today on fresh selling by speculators, triggered by a weakening global trend.
At the Multi Commodity Exchange, crude palm oil for delivery in May fell by Rs 6.80 or 1.28 per cent to Rs 525 per 10 kg with an open interest of a single lot.
Similarly, the oil for delivery in April declined by Rs 6.30 or 1.18 per cent to Rs 525.50 per 10 kg with a business volume of one lot. March contract too lost Rs 6 or 1.13 per cent to Rs 524.20 per 10 kg with a business turnover of five lots.
Market analysts attributed the fall in crude palm oil prices to fresh selling by speculators in tandem with a weakening global trend.
Meanwhile, palm oil futures for delivery in June declined by 1.7 per cent to $1,109 a tonne on the Malaysia Derivatives Exchange.
