Gold prices soared further to reach another record on the bullion market on Saturday on persistent buying by stockists and investors on the back of bullish global rally. Silver tumbled following sustained selling by speculators amid reduced industrial offtake.
Standard gold (99.5 purity) shot up by a hefty Rs 565 for 10 gm and ended at Rs 22,710. Pure gold (99.9 purity) also surged by a similar margin of Rs 565 for 10 gm and ended at Rs 22,815.
Silver ready (.999 fineness) plunged by Rs 1,085 a kg to finish at Rs 71,825.
Chennai: Bar silver: Rs 71,775; retail silver: Rs 76.80; standard gold: Rs 22,665; retail ornament gold (22 carat a gm): Rs 2,108.
Hyderabad: Standard gold (24 carat) for 10 gm: Rs 22,860; ornamental gold (22 carat) for 10 gm: Rs 22,310-22,410; silver (0.999) (a kg): Rs 71,800.
