Supported by pick-up in spot market demand, jeera prices rose by Rs 69 to Rs 13,945 per quintal at the futures trade today.

At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in June edged up by Rs 69 or 0.5 per cent to Rs 13,945 per quintal with an open interest of 8,883 lots. Similarly, July contract gained Rs 63 or 0.44 per cent to Rs 14,335 per quintal with a business turnover of 20,655 lots.

Analysts said rising demand at the spot market amid a fall in supplies mainly helped jeera prices to trade higher at the futures trade. However, weak export demand capped the gains.
