The rupee was trading flat at 62.30 against the US dollar in afternoon trade amid sustained bouts of dollar demand from importers amid lower equities.
The rupee opened slightly lower at 62.33 at the interbank Foreign Exchange (Forex) market, later it slipped further to trade at 62.38 before quoting 62.30 at 2.20 pm.
The rupee hovered in a range of 62.30 and 62.3850 during the morning trade.
Globally, in New York, the US dollar were lowest in over a week against basket currencies in early trade, having suffered yet another setback overnight in the hands of more underwhelming US economic data.
On Thursday, the rupee ended at 62.30.
