Tracking a weak trend overseas, gold prices declined 0.41 per cent to Rs 26,785 per ten grams at the futures trade today as speculators trimmed positions.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, gold for delivery in August was trading down by Rs 109 or 0.41 per cent at Rs 26,785 per ten grams in a business turnover of 6,186 lots.
Likewise, the yellow metal for delivery in October shed Rs 99 or 0.36 per cent to Rs 27,028 per 10 grams in 161 lots.
Analysts attributed the fall in gold futures to a weak global trend as the dollar strengthened, reducing the demand for the precious metals.
Meanwhile, gold slid 0.6 per cent to $1,174.72 an ounce in London.
