Silver prices were up by Rs 117 at Rs 37,517 per kg at the futures trading today as speculators created fresh positions amid a firm trend in overseas markets.
On the Multi Commodity Exchange, silver for delivery in September rose Rs 117 or 0.31 per cent to Rs 37,517 per kg in a business turnover of 57 lots.
On similar lines, the white metal for delivery in July was trading higher by Rs 97 or 0.26 per cent at Rs 36,975 per kg with a business volume of 1,380 lots.
Fresh positions built up by speculators, tracking a firm trend overseas as the dollar fell — the raising appeal of precious metals after the Federal Reserve signalled that the pace of policy tightening will be gradual — helped silver futures to rise.
Meanwhile, silver rose 0.3 per cent to $16.17 an ounce in Singapore today.
