Mutual fund distributors will now have a new technology tool that will help them understand their business better and accordingly involve in informed interactions with customers.

A business intelligence (BI) tool called FundSight has been launched by Karvy Computershare. “It will help distributors understand the market dynamics of the MF business and provide scope to develop their business on the basis of superior intelligence,” the company said.

“Unlike many parts of the world, mutual funds distribution in India is served by a scaled IFA fraternity. Given the scaled yet fragmented network, distributors need a BI tool. As a result, we have launched ‘FundSight – Your business insight online’”, said V. Ganesh, CEO of Karvy Computershare.

This user friendly Internet-based platform gives anytime, anywhere access to distributors and offers them a highly customisable multi-dimensional view of industry trends in their desired formats.

The MF community is looking to expand its reach beyond the top 15 Indian cities. Even the market regulator is keen to achieve this objective. Tools such as these should help mutual fund distributors achieve these long-term objectives, Ganesh added.

Karvy Computershare is a registrar and transfer agent offering issue registry, shareholder and mutual fund services. It is a 50:50 joint venture between the Hyderabad-based Karvy Group and Australia based global registry leader Computershare.
