Karvy Computershare Pvt Ltd had acquired 60 per cent stake in Bahrain Shares Registering Company WLL (BSRC).
The Hyderabad-based company had entered into a definitive agreement with Bahrain based KPMG Fakhro in this regard, it has announced on Tuesday.
The financial details of the deal were not disclosed.
Karvy Computershare is a joint venture of Hyderabad-based Karvy Group and Australia-based Computershare.
The 35-year-old BSRC is the largest player in the securities registry business in Bahrain with a client base of over 90 per cent listed entities in Bahrain.
“This development is part of a strategy to raise the Karvy group's profile across geographies,'' Mr C. Parthasarathy, Chairman, Karvy Group said.
Mr V. Ganesh, Chief Executive Officer, Karvy Computershare Pvt Ltd, said: “This acquisition would help us create a path-breaking process for servicing investors in the region.''
Karvy Computershare had a turnover of Rs 225 crore during 2010-11.
