Banking sector stocks, which shot up the bourses in early trade today, declined ahead of the close on the BSE on Thursday.
Maruti Suzuki held firm to emerge the top gainer on the BSE in late trading. At 2.45 p.m. it was quoting at Rs 1,781.65 as against Rs 1,763.35 at close yesterday, representing a gain of 1.04 per cent.
HDFC shed some of its gains to quote at Rs 797.55 in late trading, up 0.55 per cent on its previous close of Rs 793.15.
TCS made rapid strides to trade at Rs 2,162.75 as against Rs 2,153.70 at close on Wednesday. This represented a gain of 0.42 per cent.
Sun Pharma was quoting at Rs 574.10 as against Rs 572.40 at close on Wednesday, a gain of 0.30 per cent.
Infosys was up a shade at Rs 3,470 as against Rs 3,466.40, representing a gain of 0.10 per cent.
