Metal and energy stocks maintained their firm trend in late trading on the BSE on Wednesday.
At 3.30 pm ONGC was the top gainer on the bourse at ₹405.30, up 1.94 per cent on its overnight close of ₹397.60.
ITC gained 1.40 per cent at ₹340.50. The stock had ended the previous session at ₹335.80.
GAIL (India) was up but off its morning highs at ₹458. This represented a 1.13 per cent gain on Tuesday’s finish at ₹452.90.
Hindalco Industries trimmed some of its gains by close. It was quoting at ₹170.65, up 1.07 per cent on its previous close at ₹168.85.
Tata Steel also edged lower at ₹518. This represented a 0.92 per cent gain on yesterday’s close of ₹513.30.
