Asian stocks were trading in a mixed range on Monday as investors chose to focus on stronger-than-expected trade data from China and on hopes that political risks in West Asia would be contained.
Japan’s Nikkei 225 fell 48.33 points or 0.49 per cent to 9,719.75. Hong Kong’s Hang Seng was up 1.37 points or 0.01 per cent at 24,397.44. Singapore’s Straits Times was down 12.23 points or 0.38 per cent at 3,175.08. South Korea’s Kospi was down 7.13 points or 0.34 per cent at 2,120.84.
Australia’s S&P/Asx 200 gained 23.10 points or 0.47 per cent to 4,963.70. China’s Shanghai Composite was up 23.22 points or 0.77 per cent at 3,053.24. Taiwan’s Taiex fell 44.11 points or 0.5 per cent to 8,850.43.
