SEBI chairman, Mr U.K Sinha, has been elected Chairman, Asia-Pacific Regional Committee of the International Organisation of Securities Commissions (IOSCO).

The decision was taken at IOSCO's 36th annual conference held at Capetown in South Africa from April 17 -21 2011.

Australia, Bangladesh, Brunei, People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Kyrgyz Republic, Malaysia, Republic of Maldives, Mongolia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Vietnam are the members of Asia-Pacific regional committee of IOSCO.

SEBI is one of the earliest signatories to the Multilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MMoU) of IOSCO and one of its most active members. The erstwhile SEBI chairman, Mr C.B. Bhave, was also the Chairman of the APRC from June 2009 till he demitted his office.
