Canara Bank Officers’ Association (CBOA) has chalked out plans to mobilise business for the bank.

GV Manimaran, General-Secretary of CBOA, who was in Mangaluru to launch ‘Thus We Can’ campaign, said the association members were keen to put the extra effort into increasing business volumes.

CBOA has around 22,000 officers as its members. The campaign objective is that every member of the association brings 10 new customers. Each such new customer will bring a business of around ₹1 lakh in the savings bank account. With this, the association wants to achieve a new CASA (current account savings account) business of around ₹2,000 crore.

Another objective is to bring 10 housing loans of around ₹10 lakh from each member of CBOA, leading to a business of ₹20,000 crore.

The association will also target bringing down NPAs. The members will concentrate on around ₹4,840 crore in 75,000 accounts. This works out to approximately 3.5 accounts per member of the association.

‘Thus We Can’ campaign was launched simultaneously in 49 circles of the bank on Friday. He said the groundwork for the campaign had been on for the last six months and it would be a trendsetter in the banking industry, he said.
