Indian researchers are working on cells that can store more energy, last longer
Over 10.09 lakh people out of 33.93 lakh trained under Skill India Mission’s Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) have got jobs, with Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu reporting highest placements.
Under Skill India Mission, the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is implementing a flagship scheme PMKVY with an objective to provide skilling to one crore people across the country for four years (2016-2020). As on November 30, 2018, about 36.22 lakh candidates have been enrolled across the country.
Out of total 33.93 lakh (approximately) trained candidates, 24.13 lakh have been trained under Short Term Training, 9.08 lakh under Recognition of Prior Learning and 0.72 lakh under Special Projects across the country in various sectors as per the Ministry’s data.
PMKVY 2016-20 scheme has mandatory provisions for placement tracking. The placement data is reported within 90 days of certification of trained candidates on the Skill Development Management System (SDMS). As per data reported on SDMS, as on November 30, 2018 about 20.18 lakh candidates have been certified under Short Term Training.
The number of candidates certified under Short Term Training of PMKVY 90 days prior (August 31, 2018) is 18.42 lakh. Out of these candidates, 10.09 lakh candidates have been reported placed in various sectors across the country.
According to the Ministry, focus on employment has been significantly enhanced and candidates have been placed in various sectors and industries under the scheme. The Ministry also promotes establishment of model and aspirational skill centres known as Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) in every district for imparting skill training.
Training centres/training providers are mandated to organise placement/rozgar melas every six month with the support of Sector Skill Council.
In Uttar Pradesh 1,58,053 trained candidates got placements under the scheme. Uttar Pradesh is the only State where more than one lakh candidate have got jobs under this scheme. Madhya Pradesh reported 98,971 placements followed by Haryana (96,375), Rajasthan (95,991) and Tamil Nadu (73,231).
As per the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Training Need required across 34 sectors/sub-sectors is estimated at 126.87 million for the period 2017-2022. Out of this, 38.87 million is estimated to be required for 14 broad manufacturing sectors/sub-sectors.
