Aswini Kumar Behera has been appointed as the Chief Commissioner of Income Tax-II, Hyderabad.
A 1980 batch officer of the Indian Revenue Service, he took charge recently. Before the present assignment he served in Odisha and also as Commissioner of Income-Tax, Vijayawada.
In a press release, the Income-Tax Department also cautioned the public on fake IT officers and raids.
It drew attention to recent media reports that certain persons posing themselves as officers and officials of the department searched the residential premises of a businessman in Hyderabad and took away valuables such as cash, jewellery.
The department asked the public to demand the identify of the officials and verify the genuineness of the operation if in doubt. They could also contact 040-23425109 or 8985970100 for any clarification.
