Mangalore University to formulate sports policy

Mangalore University will come out with a sports policy, according to K Byrappa, Vice-Chancellor of the university.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Thursday, he said that the university has constituted a committee to formulate a sports policy. It includes experts from Karnataka and other states.

Kishore Kumar, Physical Director of the university, said that Mangalore University is conducting 27 university-level sports events every year. The last sports policy of the university was framed in 1982. Many changes have taken place in various sports events after that.

Considering this, an expert committee has been constituted to frame a new sports policy for the university. It should be in place before the beginning of the new academic year, he said.
