Project Management Institute signs MoU with Symbiosis university

Project Management Institute, the largest membership association for project management profession, has signed an MoU with Symbiosis International University through its Pune Deccan Chapter, to promote skill development among students and allow them an opportunity to interact with industry experts through various platforms facilitated by the institute on a regular basis.

Symbiosis Centre for Information Technology is already a registered education provider with the Project Management Institute to impart project management skills to its students as a part of its curriculum. Additionally, PMI India has also announced an endowment programme for students who pass out of the college and wish to pursue project management as a subject of choice.

PMI has entered into similar tie-ups and working relationships with other premier institutes like SP Jain Institute of Management & Research, XLRI, Karunya University, NICMAR, University Of Petroleum & Energy Studies, L&T Institute of Project Management, Pandit Dindayal Petroleum University and Amity University to encourage more students to take up project management as a profession. The aim of such an association is to provide students with an opportunity to interact with industry experts on a regular basis and help them develop industry ready talent.

Raj Kalady, Managing Director of PMI India, said: “Project management contributes immensely to the development of a nation. It drives growth by ensuring efficient completion of projects. Hence, establishing its importance at a student level is of utmost importance to shape their career.”

"The new Government’s agenda of completing the existing infrastructure projects rather than introducing new ones will be possible only by instilling right talent. We need skilled project managers who are well equipped to manage various adversities faced during the life of a project and can ensure timely completion of the project within the estimated cost,” Kalady added.
