Sterling and Wilson, a part of the $2.5-billion Shapoorji Pallonji Group, on Monday announced the signing of an MoU with Gujarat Energy Research and Management Institute (GERMI) for collaboration to enhance post-graduate students’ research into the needs of the industry.
This programme, known as, 'Sterling and Wilson-GERMI Graduate Research Program', aims at final academic year engineering students to transition research in renewable technologies to cater to the needs of industry.
The internship programme will be specific to renewable energy technologies such as smart grids, storage systems, solar power system optimisation and other relevant technologies of the future, according to a release here.
Sterling and Wilson, a part of the 149-year-old business conglomerate Shapoorji Pallonji Group, is a leading engineering services firm.
On the other hand, GERMI is a non-profit trust and society, a centre for excellence in industry learning and a scientific and industrial research organisation recognised by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, tasked with developing human resource assets for the renewable and non-renewable energy sectors.
In a boost to the ‘Make in India’ campaign, Sterling and Wilson has won this project. This GERMI graduate research programme will build skilled manpower to cater to the growing Indian solar market, create a niche market for employment and foster skill required to meet demands of the industry.
