A prominent BJP leader from Karnataka has said that his party is likely to win more than 23 seats in the State in Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing presspersons in Mangaluru on Monday, CT Ravi, General Secretary of the Karnataka BJP, said the party is hopeful of winning more than 10 seats in the first phase of elections in the State, which was conducted on April 18. Voters in 14 Lok Sabha constituencies in Karnataka exercised their franchise on that day.

Ravi said the party is likely to win 13 seats in the second phase in the State on April 23. As many as 14 Lok Sabha constituencies will go to the polls on April 23. “It will be 23-plus seats for BJP in Karnataka,” he said.

He flayed the Congress and the Janata Dal (Secular) for taking to the street to protest against Income Tax department raids on their leaders. These parties did not hold such protests when the terrorist attacks took place in the country, he said, adding that both the parties portrayed these IT raids as attacks on them.

Ravi alleged that such protests by Congress and JD(S) make it clear that they had made prior preparation for funding their election activities. That is why they took to the streets to protest the IT raids, he added.
