Five things to watch out for today

Bank employees will strike work today and tomorrow, after a meeting convened by the chief labour commissioner failed to yield any results. All employees of the five associate banks of SBI will strike work. They would be joined by employees from all banks tomorrow. The strike has been organised to oppose the merger of SBI associate banks .

At least 2,400 truckloads of sand from rivers in the Coastal Regulatory Zone in Mangaluru are to be auctioned today. It is expected to provide relief to those building houses and engaging in construction work as a ban on sand extraction is in place now.

A team from Andhra Pradesh will meet a high-level delegation of China Railway Construction Corp in Delhi. The meeting, to be held at AP Bhavan, will discuss the state’s new capital city, Amaravati, water management project for the State, regional rapid transit system for Amaravati and other parts of the State.

The Ford Mustang will be launched in India today. The sports car was unveiled for the local market at the 2016 Auto Expo. Ford’s Mustang completed its 50th birthday in 2014 making it one of the longest running cars to be in production continuously.

The Permanent Court of Arbitration in the Hague is to deliver today a ruling in a case filed by the Philippines contesting Beijing’s sweeping claims to most of the South China Sea. Beijing has rejected the international arbitration and says it will ignore the panel’s decision.
