Tea fraternity condemns attack

The tea fraternity, has condemned the assault of a senior manager at the Huldibari Tea Estate by workers. V Mandal, a senior manager was heckled and assaulted by a mob on March 21. The association and the planting fraternity has urged the district administration to take action and bring the guilty to book. According to a release issued by the Dooars Branch Indian Tea Association, the North Bengal tea industry is reeling under severe financial constraints for several years thereby making it extremely difficult for all plantations to run their day-to-day operations “effectively and meaningfully”.
