The global space industry is seeing 20 per cent growth thanks to robust programmes of countries like India, Brazil and Russia. The global space industry hit $383 billion in 2017, rising 7.4 per cent over 2016, said Aman Choudhari, Vice-Chairman, CII, Karnataka.

Addressing the sixth edition of Bengaluru Space Expo (BSX-2018), here on Wednesday, Choudhari said India has launched 237 satellites for 29 countries which showcases the country’s growing capability.

Kris Gopalakrishnan, Past President-CII and Chairman, Axilor Ventures, explained the need for the CII to bring all players together to develop a vibrant space ecosystem in India.

Bridging the gap

He said that the recent announcement of Gaganyaan mission has enthused the country and the future of India’s space programme is in manned space travel. He stressed on the need to create a vibrant private sector to meets the demands of the industry.

Rakesh Sasibhushan, CMD, Antrix, said BSX-2018 has got an overwhelming response from the Industry. “I believe BSX-2018 is coming at a time when global space commerce is poised for huge growth and India being a major space nation will play a large role in this growth. Therefore, it is vital for industry to take up some of the workload.”

Rakesh Sasibhushan said World Space Biz at BSX-2018 will be addressing current scenario, challenges and way forward, wherein industry heavy-weights will talk about the trends in space transportation and space infrastructure and a special talk on solar cells.
