Karnataka is planning to rope in private medical colleges and hospitals to set up RT-PCR testing labs.
Medical Education Minister K Sudhakar has begun to inspect colleges and hospitals in districts and held discussions with the members of administrative boards on ways to strengthen Covid testing infrastructure.
Due to large numbers of people coming back from Maharashtra, cases mushroomed in the coastal districts. The Minister rushed to Udupi and Mangalore districts held review and inspected RT-PCR labs and other facilities.
Similarly he is expected to tour other districts where a large number of cases are being reported.
Sudhakar said “I will continue to travel across the State to monitor the Covid situation and take necessary measures to contain the spread of virus.”
The state reported 257 new positive Covid cases on Thursday. This takes the total tally to 4,320. Total discharged afer treatment stood at 1,610, total active cases was 2,651 and total death 59.
Of the 257 new cases reported in the state, 155 cases were of those who had travelled from other States or overseas.
