The Deccan Development Society, a non-governmental organisation that promotes the use of millets, will hold the thirteenth Mobile Biodiversity Festival from January 14.
The month-long festival will start from Ippapalli village in Zaheerabad mandal. “The month-long festival showcases cultural vibrancy and travel 55 villages. It will conclude on February 13,” P. V. Satheesh, Director of DDS, said here in a statement on Sunday.
“A set of bullock carts carrying seeds of local crops will go round the villages, along with folk singers and dancers. In every village it passes through, public meetings are held to discuss the importance of biodiversity and local seed varieties,” he said.
International delegates too will take part in the biodiversity festival. National Biodiversity Authority Chairman Balakrishna Pisupati will inaugurate the festival.
Andhra Pradesh Biodiversity Board Chairman Hampaiah Ralladoddi and Commissioner of Sericulture (Govt of AP) C. S. Rama Lakshmi will participate in the inaugural function.
