Deputy National Security Advisor Nehchal Sandhu has resigned due to personal reasons. He was appointed by the erstwhile UPA Government.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi accepted his resignation but with regret, a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office said. Sandhu was also Secretary in the National Security Council Secretariat.
The PMO statement said Sandhu resigned from his position with effect from July 31. The PM expressed appreciation for Sandhu’s outstanding service to the country in a career spanning over 40 years — as a police officer, Director of Intelligence Bureau and Deputy National Security Advisor, the statement added
An IPS officer from the Bihar cadre’s 1973 batch, Sandhu was given a three-year fixed term contract from January 2013.
