Goa Tourism Department is expecting one lakh domestic and international tourists for float parades to be held across the state during the spring festival of ‘Shigmo’
State Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar said that the parades have been advertised across the country and even globally, which will have an impact on the inflow of the tourists. “At least one lakh tourists are expected to arrive to witness these parades,” he said.
The float parades will begin from March 27 in the state. Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti will hold the parade on March 30.
The tourism department has sanctioned Rs 1.14 crore for hosting of the parades across the state and Rs 66 lakh for the prize. Parulekar said the festival would showcase the rich cultural heritage of the state to the tourists.
Panaji Shigmotsav Samiti chairman Shrinivas Dempo said various week-long activities have been lined up to mark the Shigmo festivities.
The samiti has been hosting the parades for last 25 years in the capital city.
