Madhya Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission on Saturday approved a marginal hike of 0.77 per cent in electricity rates in the state.
The commission chairman Rakesh Sahni told reporters here that the new rates would come into effect from April.
“Even though there is no hike for domestic consumers using less than 500 units per month, for those using more than 500 units per month, additional electricity surcharge of five paise per unit will be charged,” he said.
The commission approved a hike of 0.77 per cent only as against the hike of 9.38 per cent sought by the power distribution companies, Sahni said.
